Nancy L. Meek
“Lilripple”
Nancy is the proud wife of William “Billy” J. Meek, a Vietnam War Veteran, who served with the 1st Cavalry Airmobile Division, 11th Aviation Group, 228th Battalion, Co. B.
Billy and Nancy have made their home in Charleston, South Carolina, one of America’s most historical cities. Known to locals as “The Holy City”, it is also the birthplace of the Civil War, a war of untold devastation which almost permanently divided her great nation. Nestled among church steeples and ghosts of soldiers haunting historical homes and graveyards, Nancy writes on both the physical and spiritual aspects of war and its profound effects on soldiers and their loved ones.
Believing it a gift from God, Nancy uses her talent to convey the emotions of those who find it difficult. She hopes her efforts will bring comfort and also enlightenment that no man is an island, that the choices we make impact others, too often horribly.
With loving support from her husband and the group whose poetry and stories inspire her own, she continues to write on the effects of war and the especially deep bond among veterans. Her fervent prayer is for an end to all war; but until then, she will be “perpetually penning and praying for eventual peace.”
In addition to the IWVPA web site, Nancy has been published in several hospital newsletters across her home state. More of her poetry may be found on her personal web site calls Castle Chambers.
