THE MOON AND THE SEA
The full moon lays incandescent fire on the water,
Spinning, changing, dancing over the sea without a care,
The radiant moon shines bright, the air clear,
The sea rising to meet the one it holds dear,
The horizon lives in deep violet born of the long sleeping sun,
The ever-bright stars shine with intensity over where the waters run,
Though far away across the ethereal void the moon touches the heart of the sea,
The sea surges toward the moon,
As with the moon is the only place it wishes to be,
Do you hear the singing in the spaces between the words?
Not made by any person, or of any birds?
A song is woven in the light,
A song about all that is good and strong and right,
It spirals up the pillars of light and dances on the waves,
Painting its picture in the after light of the eyes,
As with joy, the sea softly cries,
It may rain soon,
The sky becomes clouded,
And the stars are slowly shrouded,
Not hiding the brilliance of the moon.
