A REQUIEM FOR RON
I remember Ron's ready smile, his courage and his kindness,
The love he had for his family, yes, that I remember best,
He will live on in our hearts and our minds,
For when we think of him he will be never be hard to find,
He is Husband, Father, and Friend,
I speak of him in the present tense,
Because his being these things will never end.

Author’s Note: I wrote this poem for my good friend's father (who was also a good friend himself) when he passed away recently after a long fight with lung cancer. I could not make it to the funeral as I live a long way away, so I sent the poem to my mate who read it at the funeral.
