A BAD POET'S LAMENT

I wish I could say
what I think that I mean.
I wish I could write
my feelings down right.
I wish I could rhyme,
at least most of the time.
I wish I had expressed,
With far more finesse,
What my heart wanted to say,
yet failed to relay...

For if I could have swayed her with prose,
my wife I suppose,
bless her,
may not have abandoned me,
for her suave English
professor
