MANY ROADS

I've travelled many roads
And missed many turns.
I've followed the straight and narrow,
Regardless of how I was spurned.

People didn't know me,
And they cared even less.
The population of this great country
Just wasn't interested in the mess.

I worked day and night
To keep the streets safe.
I fought every day
Just so you could enjoy your way.

The toll this took is great,
It is written on my face.
The eyes have given up
So I cannot win this race.

The time has come my friend
To say goodbye to all.
There is no way I want to live
A life that is meaningless to all.
