REASONS…
Some went for the flag
Some of us went because we heard the bugle.
Some went so not to disappoint our fathers.
Some went to try that little green bag.
Some went for the adventure.
Some – it was that or jail
Some – they had no choice
Some – because of exciting boyhood tales.
Almost all came home,
By ship, by plane, or in a bag.
Little did they dream,
The dreams would turn bad.
In one hundred years,
It will be discussed
Why we were forsaken
Why we were cussed
Perhaps they will see
In TV reruns
We band of brothers,
the brotherhood of the gun.
