THE VIETNAM WIVES

Our lives are one big war game.
As mean as it can be.
Never forget your enemy’s name,
For he is PTSD.

So listen gals and stay alert,
And sharpen all your knives.
Our families, he will not hurt,
Because we are the Vietnam Wives.

As the flashbacks start to creep around,
They’ll know you’re not a fool,
Just use your shield to knock them down.
Then take the kids to school.

Don’t let depression get you down,
Learn to kick and punch.
Force a smile out of a frown,
Then stop in time for lunch.

Anxiety really does take a toll,
So try to be courageous.
But if it does get out of control,
He can be very contagious.

When anger shows his ugly head,
Consider yourself the winner,
Shoot him twice, make sure he’s dead,
Then go on and finish dinner.

Those sleepless nights can get you tired,
By pacing in the hall.
And paranoia can get you wired,
That you can’t sleep at all.

Now Substance abuse is very tough,
You really must believe.
A rocket launcher is just enough,
To make him want to leave.

Sweep isolation under the rug,
By using your big broom.
Give those suicidal thoughts a hug,
And wash away the gloom.

We’ll fight them tooth and nail,
Strong for the rest of our lives.
And we shall always prevail,
Because we are the Vietnam Wives.
